TexVet maintains a best-in-class resource database for service members, veterans, and their families, that is updated on a regular basis and fully audited once per year.

TexVet makes it easy for service members, veterans, and their families to find what they need and for veteran-serving organizations to reach the state’s military and veteran communities.
Research
TexVet helps to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world application by connecting communities with the scientific investigators who serve them.
Texas Health and Human Service’s Mental Health Program for Veterans provides mental health services for service members, veterans, and their families by contracting for the following:
- Texas A&M Health Science Center to provide local information and resources online 24/7 through TexVet.org.
- 37 Local Mental Health Authorities (LMHA)/ Local Behavioral Health Authorities to hire or contract for Peer Service Coordinators to provide direct peer-to-peer services to engage veterans and family members who have experienced military trauma, are at risk of isolation from support services and don’t seek services through traditional channels.
- Texas Veterans Commission’s Veteran Mental Health Department to provide training and technical assistance to peer service coordinators, community-based partners, and mental health providers and also coordinates services for justice-involved veterans.
- 6 LMHAs to hire or contract for Rural Veteran Counselors, who are licensed mental health providers who are funded to provide direct mental health services to service members, veterans, and their families free of charge.
The Texas Veterans + Family Alliance (TV+FA) Grant Program was created to improve the quality of life of Texas veterans and their families by supporting local Texas communities to expand the availability of, increase access to, and enhance the delivery of mental health treatment and services.
Grant awards are made to community collaboratives to fund the implementation of new or improved systems coordinating and delivering mental health services; provide and coordinate supportive services essential to the provision of mental health services; and development of and/or support for community collaboratives with the goal of self-sustainment by the end of the grant period. TV+FA grants support a range of clinical mental health and non-clinical supportive services for veterans and family members.
